It is only sealed if the top is rolled three times. This is the single thing that decides whether a dry bag works, and almost nobody is told it. The seal is not the buckle — it is the folded nylon pressing against itself, and one or two folds will not hold. Three folds minimum, then clip. A bag rolled once and buckled looks closed and leaks at the first splash, which is how dry bags end up with a reputation for not being dry. If these are going to a crowd who have not used one before, a line on the insert card is worth more than any spec you could print.

The print has to clear the roll line, or it folds away. The usable 200mm x 200mm panel sits on the lower body, not the top third, because the top third is what gets rolled down in use. Artwork placed high disappears the moment the bag is closed, and a tall logo creeps into the fold and creases. Centre the mark low on the face and it stays readable whether the bag is full or rolled right down. Send artwork that is wider than it is tall if you have the option.

In this climate the bag keeps water out and moisture in. A sealed, non-breathable bag in Singapore heat is an excellent way to grow mildew on a damp towel or swimwear left inside overnight. The bag is doing its job — nothing gets in or out — but the consequence catches people out, and the complaint lands with whoever gave them the bag. Unroll and air it after use.
