Why Singapore’s best brands order their Customised Mahjong Set from Aquaholic
A Custom Mahjong Set is not a giveaway. It is a cultural object — the centrepiece of a family’s Chinese New Year gathering, a showpiece on a private bank’s reception table, the keepsake a couple opens on every wedding anniversary for the next thirty years. Getting it right means matching the tile material, finish, decoration method, and case format to the exact occasion — not picking from a drop-down menu.
Four things set an Aquaholic Customised Mahjong Set apart:
1,000+ mahjong commissions. We have produced Customised Mahjong for CNY gift runs, wedding favours, hotel in-room amenity sets, private-bank client programmes, and family heirloom keepsakes. That volume means the design, material, and production decisions on your commission are informed by what has worked — and what has not — across a decade of Singapore mahjong gifting.
Full front-and-back tile customisation at no extra charge. Most suppliers charge extra to decorate the tile face as well as the back. On every Custom Mahjong Set we make, both sides of every tile are yours to design — at no uplift. Colour combinations, commemorative first tiles, dedication markings on the box interior — all standard.
Quality-controlled, hand-inspected. Every set leaving the facility is manually checked — tile colour match against the approved chip, engraving depth, print clarity, case fitment, hinge and latch operation. The inspection is why our post-delivery feedback rate sits where it does.
Singapore-based design consultation. You speak to a real designer at our Singapore office — in person, over WhatsApp, or by email — not a form on an offshore portal. We share Pantone colour chips before production, approve artwork over a call, and flag any file issues up front so the commission does not stall at the pre-press gate.
Tile materials and finishes
Acrylic is the mainstream material for a Customised Mahjong Set — visually versatile, takes every colour treatment cleanly, mid-tier on unit cost. Resin sits above acrylic on perceived quality and engraves more cleanly; we reserve resin for premium commissions where hand-feel matters. Melamine is available for entry-tier volumes where unit cost is the hard constraint.
Solid-colour finish
Opaque, uniform, painted-through pigment. Reads corporate, clean, timeless. Safe across mixed-audience client lists — CNY corporate, client appreciation, hospitality, property handovers. The default finish if the brief is unconstrained.
Glitter finish
Suspended metallic flake in a tinted acrylic base — champagne, rose gold, silver, burgundy. Reads festive and photogenic. Specifically recommended for CNY gifting and wedding-favour commissions where the visual energy needs to match the occasion.
Metallic finish
Smooth painted-through metallic pigment — gold, rose gold, silver, bronze — without the suspended-flake effect. Luxurious and restrained. The default for private-bank, family-office, and premium client-list commissions where glitter would be too theatrical.
Translucent finish
Semi-transparent tinted acrylic — light passes through the tile body. Modern and design-forward. Pairs beautifully with back-face printing since the artwork is partially visible through the tile. Specified on fashion-brand activations and contemporary wedding palettes.
Case formats — four styles, four gifting contexts
The case is the first thing the recipient sees. It is also where the set lives between sessions — so the case format and finish drive most of the set’s on-display perception.
| Case format | Best-fit occasion | Typical decoration |
|---|---|---|
| Lacquered wood | CNY corporate gifting, mid-range client appreciation | Foil-stamped monogram on the lid |
| PU leather | Hotel in-room sets, contemporary weddings, fashion brand activations | Debossed or foil-stamped logo |
| Solid hardwood | Private banks, family offices, heirloom keepsakes | Engraved brass plate on the lid |
| Linen-wrapped | Wedding favour mini sets, boutique lifestyle gifts | Debossed couple’s monogram, ribbon wrap |
Standard tiles or mini tiles — which Customise Mahjong format to pick
The standard full-size tile (30 × 22 × 17 mm) is the format you find in a conventional mahjong set, sized for adult play on a standard table. We recommend it on every corporate gifting commission, property handover, and family keepsake — the set is going to a recipient who will actually play, and the playing experience matters.
The mini tile format (20 × 15 × 10 mm) is smaller, lighter, and cheaper per unit. It is the right choice for wedding favours where the set is as much a memento as a playable game, for travel-themed gifting, and for space-constrained end uses like hotel in-room amenity sets.
Tile and case decoration — every method, matched to the brief
Decoration drives the visual personality of the Customised Mahjong Set as heavily as the tile material itself. Five methods cover almost every commission we run:
UV printing on tiles. The default for colour artwork on tile backs — rich, durable, full-colour, fast. Handles multi-colour logos, gradients, and photographic content cleanly.
Pad printing on tiles. The budget workhorse for single-colour logos at 200+ volumes. Clean, durable, lowest unit cost when the artwork is a simple spot colour.
Laser engraving on tiles. No ink, tactile depth, permanent. The tonal choice for private-bank, family-office, and heirloom commissions where the mark needs to read as understated craftsmanship rather than promotional branding.
Sublimation on tiles. Full-face wraparound, gradient-tolerant, richest on light-coloured and translucent tiles. The method of choice when artwork spans the tile array.
Foil stamping, debossing, or brass plates on the case. The three case-lid finishes that fix the overall perceived quality of the set. Foil stamping for metallic logos on lacquered wood and PU leather. Debossing for tonal, understated treatment on leather and linen. Brass plates on solid hardwood.

Use-case playbook — which Customised Mahjong Set for which occasion
Chinese New Year corporate gifts
Full 144-tile acrylic set in a solid or glitter CNY palette (red, burgundy, champagne gold), back-printed logo in metallic gold or copper, lacquered wood case with a foil-stamped company monogram. Volume tier 200–1,000+ sets. Brief by mid-November for late-January delivery.
Private bank and family office client gifts
Resin tiles with a tonal laser-engraved monogram on the tile back. Solid hardwood case with a brass plate bearing the institution’s name. Presentation box in matching wood veneer. Understated, heritage, serious.
Wedding favours (mini sets)
Mini 20 mm acrylic tiles in ivory or blush, couple’s monogram and wedding date on the tile back, a commemorative first tile bearing the venue, linen-wrapped gift box, ribbon finished. Small-batch tiers for head-table guests.
Luxury hotel in-room and loyalty gifts
Acrylic tiles in a muted palette — champagne, cream, soft grey, or black-and-gold — hotel monogram in a foil-like metallic on the tile back, PU leather or linen-wrapped case matching the hotel’s interior palette, complementary branded playing mat.
Property developer unit handovers
Acrylic tiles in the development’s brand palette, project name (not developer’s corporate mark) engraved or printed on the tile back, hardwood or premium PU leather case with the development’s brand plate. Volume matches the launch-phase unit count.
Family heirloom keepsakes
Single-unit commissions — a birthday, a retirement, an anniversary. Resin tiles in a personally significant colourway, dedication text engraved on the case interior lid, full presentation-box packaging.
CNY planning timeline — the countdown every Singapore buyer needs
Chinese New Year is the peak season for Customised Mahjong gifting in Singapore. The lead-time maths has to be planned backwards from the distribution date — usually 1–2 weeks before CNY itself to allow time for handwritten cards, courier distribution, and top-tier client hand-delivery.
| When | Milestone |
|---|---|
| 10 weeks before CNY | Brief confirmed — spec, volume, quote signed off |
| 8 weeks before CNY | Artwork locked, colour chips signed off, pre-production sample approved |
| 3 weeks before CNY | Production complete, sets packaged and ready to ship |
| 1–2 weeks before CNY | Delivery to your office or drop-ship to individual recipients |
For a late-January CNY, that puts the brief deadline at mid-November. Buyers briefing in December on the same CNY cycle can still be accommodated on small runs with expedited-production surcharges; buyers briefing in January cannot. The workable answer is always: confirm the brief early.
MOQ, lead time, and pricing
MOQ: 200 sets for a full custom Customised Mahjong Set commission. Smaller single-unit keepsake runs and small-batch wedding favours are handled on a case-by-case basis — get in touch to discuss volume.
Lead time: 30 working days onwards from artwork approval to delivery-ready inventory. Add 1–2 weeks for brief-to-artwork-approval and delivery logistics. Expedited production possible on small runs at an expedited-production surcharge.
Pricing: unit cost is driven by tile material and finish, decoration method, case format, and volume tier. Standard acrylic sets with a lacquered wood case sit in the low-to-mid three-digit SGD range per unit at 200+ sets. Premium resin-and-hardwood commissions run meaningfully higher. Send us your brief for a line-item quote within one working day.
Payment: 50% deposit on order confirmation, 50% before delivery. Corporate accounts can apply for 30-day invoice terms. We accept bank transfer, PayNow, and corporate credit cards. Invoices in SGD by default; USD on request.
Artwork file requirements
Preparing your artwork to our pre-press standard collapses the sample-approval round-trip from 10 days to 4. We accept the following file formats:
- Vector preferred: AI or PDF — the safest formats for logos and line art
- Raster accepted: PNG at 300 dpi minimum, TIF at 400 dpi for sublimation wraparound artwork
- JPEG accepted but not recommended for logos with fine detail
- Colour profile: CMYK for print methods, spot-colour with Pantone references for engraving and foil stamping
- Fonts outlined, each colour on its own layer, 3 mm bleed on print-to-edge designs
No artwork yet? Our in-house design team creates logos, layouts, and commemorative-tile designs from scratch as part of the commission — sketch us the idea, and we will return a digital mock-up within two working days.

Customised Mahjong Set — frequently asked questions
What is the minimum order quantity for a Customised Mahjong Set?
Our standard MOQ is 200 sets for a full custom commission. We also accept single-unit keepsake commissions and small-batch wedding favours on a case-by-case basis — please contact us directly to discuss volumes below 200 and we will talk through the options.
How long does a Custom Mahjong Set take to produce?
Lead time is 30 working days onwards from artwork approval, plus 1–2 weeks for brief-to-artwork-approval and delivery logistics. End-to-end from first brief to hand-over is usually 6–8 weeks. Expedited production is possible on small runs at an expedited-production surcharge.
Can I Customise Mahjong tile faces as well as the tile backs?
Yes — front-face customisation is included on every Customised Mahjong Set we make at no extra charge. That said, we recommend against altering the suit tile faces (dots, bamboos, characters) since regular mahjong players need to recognise tiles instantly during play. Customisation is best directed at the tile backs, a commemorative first tile, the case lid, and the box interior.
What tile materials do you use?
Acrylic is our default — visually versatile, takes colour and printing beautifully, mid-tier unit cost. Resin is denser and more heritage-feeling, specified on premium commissions. Melamine is available for entry-tier volumes. All three are durable, food-safe, and suitable for long-term use.
How many tiles are in an Aquaholic Customised Mahjong Set?
144 tiles as standard — the full Singapore mahjong ruleset with all eight flowers and seasons. Variant counts (148, 152) are available on request for export commissions or rule variants. Every set also includes dice, wind markers, and a full set of point sticks.
Can you Pantone-match my brand palette?
Yes — we match to the nearest available production colour within each method’s constraints. UV printing and sublimation give the widest Pantone accuracy. We always run a physical colour chip for sign-off on brand-critical commissions before production.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes — we ship Customised Mahjong Sets to every major market. Shipping adds 1–3 weeks to the Singapore-ready timeline depending on destination. Import duties are typically the receiver’s responsibility unless agreed otherwise at order confirmation.
Do you provide a sample before production?
Yes — a physical pre-production sample is produced on every commission above 200 units, at a sample-tier unit cost that is refunded against the production order. For smaller runs we produce a sample tile plus a case material swatch to cover sign-off.
Can we get individual gift-boxing and drop-ship to our client list?
Yes — individual gift-boxing, branded outer cartons, handwritten cards, and multi-address drop-ship to your recipient list are all available as add-ons. Our team coordinates courier distribution across Singapore and internationally.
Is a Customised Mahjong Set suitable for recipients who do not play mahjong?
Yes — and more often than buyers expect. A well-made Custom Mahjong Set reads as a cultural artefact and display piece even for recipients who do not play. Many non-player recipients learn the game specifically because the gift piqued their interest.
