Custom Soft Toy Safety Singapore: Child-Safe Materials & Standards

If a custom plush is going to a child — at a roadshow, a hospital, a school or a family day — safety isn’t optional, it’s the whole point. A poorly made soft toy can be a choking or allergy hazard. Before you order a custom soft toy for young recipients, here’s what to check on materials, construction and standards.

The 30-second version: for kids, insist on non-toxic materials, securely-attached or embroidered eyes (no loose small parts), clean hypoallergenic fill, and recognised toy-safety testing (e.g. EN71/ASTM) with appropriate age labelling. Ask your supplier to confirm. Our default MOQ is 200 pieces, though it isn’t strict — mini plush and keychains are cheaper, so volume drives the price right down.

Standards & labelling

Recognised toy-safety standards — such as EN71 (Europe) or ASTM F963 (US) — cover mechanical hazards (small parts), flammability and chemical limits. For toys aimed at the very young, embroidered eyes (rather than plastic safety eyes) remove a choke risk entirely. Match the toy to an appropriate age grade, and ask your supplier to confirm testing and to use clean, hypoallergenic fill. This matters most for hospital, school and public-event giveaways.
