It is stripped from a living oak every nine years without felling the tree, and it takes a laser engrave as a clean natural etch rather than a printed mark sitting on top of the surface. Keep artwork to a solid logo and one line of text — fine detail fills in, and the grain varies between pieces, so engraved tone will vary slightly across a run. That is the material behaving normally, not a defect.
