Gel ink is the upgrade people actually notice. Ballpoint ink is oil based and needs pressure; gel is water based and flows, so the line comes out darker and the hand works less. Hand a room full of people a gel pen at a signing table and nobody asks for a different one.

The trade off is mileage, and you should know it. 400 metres of gel is roughly a third of what a Dokumental ballpoint refill carries. A gel pen is the right call for an event, a signing ceremony or a desk drop where writing quality is the point — for a pen that has to last a year in a bag, the aluminium ballpoints in the range go further.

Translucent barrels print differently. A solid logo on a translucent body reads crisply because the ink sits on a surface that has some depth behind it. Light colours take a dark print; the navy and black barrels want a white or metallic print to carry.

Where it sits in the range. This is the gel option in our customised pen range, a dollar under the soft touch aluminium styles. At 500 pieces it is the standard conference or roadshow specification.
