Your print area is a 5mm strip, so check your logo before you check the price. This is the one fact that decides whether a pencil works for you. Pad print and laser give you 55 x 5mm: five millimetres tall, about the height of this line of text. A single-line wordmark set in a clean typeface will read. A stacked lock-up, a logo with an icon above the name, or anything with a tagline underneath will not — it has to be shrunk until the detail closes up. If your mark only exists as a square or stacked version, a pencil is the wrong carrier and the printed box on a pencil set gives you 55 x 55mm instead, which is sixty times the area.

Rotary screen gives you more than double the print area for the same money. Worth knowing because most suppliers quote pad print by default. Pad print is 55 x 5mm, which is 275 square millimetres. Rotary screen is 60 x 11mm, which is 660 — and both cost the same per unit on this item. The screen print wraps further around the barrel, so it suits a longer company name or a name plus a short phone number. Laser engraving costs a little more and uses no ink at all: it burns the mark into the wood in a darker brown, which cannot rub off and looks considerably more expensive than print, but it is always that one burnt colour. Direct digital is the only full-colour option, and it is the thinnest panel of the four at 4mm tall.

They arrive unsharpened, and that is the right way to ship them. Several of the photographs here show a sharpened sample so you can see the pencil in use; what we deliver is unsharpened. On a 500 or 1,000 piece run this matters more than it sounds. Sharpened tips snap against each other in a carton, so a sharpened bulk order reliably arrives with a proportion of broken points and graphite dust through the packaging. Unsharpened pencils pack flat and dense, which is why a full carton holds 1,000 pieces at 4kg. If the pencils are going into a delegate bag or a school pack, the recipient sharpens at the point of use and nothing is lost. If you need them sharpened for a signing table or an exam, tell us at quote stage and we will price it separately.

At this price the question is distribution, not unit cost. A 500 piece run lands at under S$900 all in, which makes this one of the few items where you can afford to give one to everybody who walks past a booth rather than rationing them to qualified leads. HB is the general-purpose grade, so it suits exam use, site marking, sketching and ordinary note taking without being specialised for any of them. It suits roadshows, open days, school and tuition programmes, conference delegate bags, and architecture, engineering or property firms where a pencil is a working tool rather than a novelty.
