Custom Scarf Design Guide Singapore: Borders, Logo Placement & Edge Finishes
A scarf is a big, flowing canvas — and a couple of design decisions separate one that looks expensive from one that looks cheap. The two that matter most: how you handle the border and logo, and how the edges are finished. Here’s a design guide for a custom scarf that reads premium.
The 30-second version: design a border that frames the scarf and place the logo subtly (corner or repeated motif); choose a hand-rolled hem for a premium finish or a machine hem for budget runs. Our default MOQ is 200 pieces, though it isn’t strict — smaller runs are often possible depending on stock and decoration.
Designing the layout
Think of a scarf as a framed piece. A border (a contrasting frame around the edge) instantly looks designed and premium, and it’s where many scarves carry brand colours. Keep the logo tasteful: a small mark in a corner, or woven subtly into a repeating pattern, reads far classier than a big central logo. Allow for how the scarf folds — the corners and the central band are the most-seen areas when worn. For colour and fabric choices, see our scarf fabric guide.
Edge finishes
| Finish | Character |
|---|---|
| Hand-rolled hem | The premium, luxury silk-scarf finish |
| Machine-stitched hem | Neat, durable, lower cost |
| Merrow / overlock edge | Decorative coloured edge |
| Fringed / tasselled | Casual, cosy (for woven/winter scarves) |
The edge is a small detail people feel and notice. A hand-rolled hem is the hallmark of a luxury scarf and worth it for premium gifts; a machine hem is perfectly clean for everyday and budget runs.
