Reusable Straws/Metallic Straws Vs. plastic straws
The use of straw excessively increased after the idea of fast food. McDonald’s came up with an idea of ordering food in a disposable way, so people are not bound to sit at a dedicated spot to eat their food. They started using disposable plates, disposable glasses, and plastic straws. And this is not an unofficial statement.
Formal research has concluded that 90% of the plastic is disposed of as garbage, which means that 90% of the plastic is only used once before knowing as garbage. After the idea by McDonald’s and it is franchised all over the world, new brands were entering this market of fast food and applying the same formula, usage of disposable items for accessibility, and ability for the customer to choose a place to eat.
Since 2018, people have started to educate themselves about the pollution crisis and the major role of plastic in it, including plastic straws. This knowledge has led them to completely ban plastic straws from their life and use metal ones in order to add value to the world. It still isn’t enough.
More people need to know about the disadvantages of plastic straw and eradicate its use from their lives. Big companies are also playing their role to eliminate the use of plastic, including plastic straws. They are either switching to metal straws or not providing plastic straws at all!
Emphasis on the use of metal straws or straws that can be reused is made by many environmental and wildlife advocates. With this share of knowledge, reusable straws have started to manufacture. Now, you can find reusable straws of many kinds in the market. They are intentionally made of stainless steel. Stainless steel has many properties, including corrosion-resistant, anti-oxidant, durable, safe, and non-toxic. Hence, they can be repeatedly used.
Why do we use reusable straws?
Some of the reasons are listed below:
- It helps you save money as you don’t have to buy new straw, again, and again, you can use the same straw multiple times.
- You are not supposed to dispose of it off as it can be easily washed and bring into use again.
- You can carry it in your bag and bring it around to use anywhere you want. After each use, you need to wash it thoroughly and dry it before you are ready to use it again.
Giving appropriate importance to a certain issue is destined to be in our hands, and our actions will path the future. It is our choice to take this matter seriously and willingly act to bring change. Otherwise, if it goes the way it is going, statistics say that by the year 2050, we will have more plastic in oceans than fish in terms of weight.
If you are going to think that one man cannot change anything, you are wrong! Every person matters and their efforts will be measured individually. It is your duty to serve honestly. So, save the earth! And take this matter seriously.
